Whiskey Barrel-Aged Cold Brew is the latest item to make the Starbucks’ menu.
To get the brew infused with the flavour of the spirit, the coffee beans are stored in barrels that once held the alcoholic fluid and left to infuse.
This creates an authentic flavour as the raw product takes in the whiskey characteristics, but any alcohol later burns off during the roasting process.
The drink has since been launched in a selected number of Starbucks outlets. As the reception to the new coffee has been fairly mixed with social media reactions varying from “Starbucks nailed this one,” to “You lost me”, it is unclear whether or not Starbucks’ will launch the beverage worldwide.
