The Blend Top Ten: Our first interview with Look Mum No Hands!

For our first ever issue, we decided that we needed to aim high, so we approached Look Mum No Hands! in Shoreditch to see if they would be interested in featuring as our big interview in the launch issue of The Blend.

A selection of cycling-based retail offerings

Joe and Abbie went up to London, both excited and nervous. We had both done this before, but never in this industry. We wanted to make a good impression – we’d done our research, pre-loaded a list of questions and powered on.

You can’t miss it from the street!

During this interview was when we realised what a friendly, welcoming industry this was. Matthew Harper, one-third owner of Look Mum No Hands! was open and honest. He spoke us through how they set up the business with little more than £8,000 each, what he thought about the national chains as competition and the fantastic reputation that the cycling workshop-cum-coffee shop has built.

Beautiful coffee and an exquisite menu

We had a lovely Square Mile Red Brick flat white each and wonderful conversation with Matthew. This was not a bad way to start our journey into the independent coffee shop market.

We’ve not actually been back since, but when we’re next in the area, we can’t wait to stop by again.
